RAWMINA attended the EIT Raw Materials Summit in Brussels (May 2024), participating in a Crowdhelix organised workshop focused on accelerating circular strategies in the raw materials and steel industries. Moderated by Susana Xarà and Valeria Pulieri, the workshop emphasized the importance of advancing the circular economy and raw material recovery. The summit facilitated engagement with experts and peers dedicated to a resource-efficient future.

Workshop Highlights:

  • Session 1: Peter Tom Jones discussed the need for an Industrial Green Deal, highlighting the role of critical raw materials in clean technologies and advocating for sustainable mining within Europe.
  • Session 2: Presentations by EU-funded projects (Hephaestus, Rotate, RAWMINA, and ReSoURCE) showcased innovative technologies and their contributions to the circular economy.

Roundtable Discussions:

  • Focused on circular strategies, industrial synergies, and transformative practices, fostering meaningful dialogue and future collaborations.

About the Summit: The EIT Raw Materials Summit, the largest network in raw materials knowledge and innovation, aims to secure Europe's strategic raw materials supply for the Green Deal. The event featured over 65 speakers and nearly 1,000 attendees, including leaders from the European Commission, global industry, financial institutions, and civil society, discussing the future of the circular economy and sustainable development.
